Position Title: API Solution Director

Position Overview:
As an API Solution Director, you will be responsible for delivering effective solution designs within the Open Banking Center of Excellence (COE). You will take the lead in designing end-to-end API solutions to meet business needs, ensuring alignment with strategic architecture principles and industry best practices. This role requires a highly experienced individual who can independently deliver design artifacts, engage stakeholders, and oversee technical implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solution Design and Delivery:
    • Design and deliver end-to-end API solutions to meet business needs.
    • Take ownership of API design and API security within the Open Banking COE.
  • Best Practices and Standards:
    • Define and adopt best practices in API design, leveraging industry standards.
    • Highlight areas of improvement and implement industry best practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Engage stakeholders in workshops to align on desired outcomes.
    • Present solutions to the Customer's Architecture Review Board when necessary.
  • Project Contribution:
    • Contribute to solution planning, including estimation processes and risk identification.
    • Collaborate with the delivery lead to break down solutions into iterative deliverables for sprints.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Review designs and code produced by technical teams to ensure alignment with solution design.
    • Provide expertise in handling requirements and change requests to maintain fit-for-purpose solutions.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience as a solution architect in large-scale API integration projects and programs.
  • Expertise in REST API design principles, including creating Swagger/RAML definitions.
  • Strong knowledge of API security standards (e.g., mutual authentication, OAuth, OIDC).
  • Proficiency with industry-standard API management platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway).
  • Experience in modeling, building, and deploying large-scale distributed microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Deep understanding of cross-cutting concerns such as observability, logging, monitoring, and error handling.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard solutions like Splunk or ELK.
  • Proficiency in public cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns and tools like Kafka is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with DevOps solutions (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, AWS CodePipeline).
  • Financial services experience is a plus.
