Linux Infrastructure Engineer
Your Responsibilities:
- Recognize, address, solve, and forward incidents in an efficient manner.
- Oversee the consistent health monitoring of the platform.
- Address challenges faced by the platform's end-users.
- Design operational tools, enhancements, and automation strategies.
- Engage in detailed problem analysis; pinpoint and rectify recurring issues, and work on establishing automated, self-repairing solutions.
- Take part in outage-related discussions.
- Craft clear and easily understood documentation for both the environment and operational practices.
- Commit to a continuous 24x7 shift rotation.
Your Credentials:
- A pronounced commitment to ownership, customer assistance, and ethical standards, showcased via superior communication skills.
- Capable of tackling intricate engineering challenges utilizing debugging and analytical abilities.
- Comprehensive expertise in the Linux operating system, covering aspects like disk, file system, process, resources, users, packages, and service management.
- Skilled in detecting and rectifying server hardware issues using native OS tools.
- Operational familiarity with container technologies and cluster administration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- An innate drive to replace manual tasks with automated solutions.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, for instance, Bash or Python.
- A grasp on common network protocols and elements like HTTP, TSL/SSL, DNS, ECMP, TCP/IP, ICMP, the OSI framework, subnetting, and load distribution techniques.
- Prior experience with tools for logging, telemetry, and monitoring, such as Splunk or Prometheus.
- Holds a bachelor’s degree or an advanced qualification.
Bonus Attributes:
- Certification as a RedHat System Administrator.
- Knowledge of the Linux kernel environment, including processes, threads, memory, static/shared libraries, interprocess interactions, and signals.
- Experience in managing a wide array of systems using configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Salt.
- Proficiency in interacting with APIs and serialization formats such as JSON and YAML.
